My question is about Consumer 60 gram Shells. How much is the average amount for the Shell's lift charge and also for the effects composition? If the answer is to cut open a can, I'll pass on that. Just curious.

A while back, I made a spreadsheet based on 86 videos on youtube where guys cut open 4" & 5" shells to weigh the contents. The average for comp was 42.8g. For lift, it was 9.79g. Overall, the total of both was 51g.

Yes, on average you are looking at about 10g of lift and 40+g of composition for an average shell. 10g is a good lift charge and obviously the closer you get to 50g for comp, the better the shell, but very few actually hit the 60g mark. Unfortunately a new trend for manufacturers is to get stingy with the lift charge making them break lower which in turn gives the illusion of a bigger break.

I experienced lower breaks this year. The retailer blamed it on the summer humidity??
