Laquil we always appreciate you sharing the fireworks culture of Malta with us.
.
When I see some of these massive large multi-break creations in Malta I often wonder a few thing from a business pyro-technician standpoint. One is as far as I know why have none of these shells been imported into United States? Secondly, looking at these massive multi-break shells through a pyro-technician eyes , what is error fallout rate on these multi-break shells after the display? I see some of these shells have many individual smaller break salutes and devices. That night or the next day , what does the fallout area look like? Having worked displays and signing off on a post display shoot site, I often wonder how this is handled? In Malta are there shared shoot sites for city displays or events?
When I see these Malta shells , I have memories of doing a professional display that had multiple Tourbillion Shells made somewhere other than China is all I remember. After the display a police officer watching the perimeter came over to us and said "Here I found this in the street" . It was half of a Tourbillion Shell still full of inserts . I am thinking professional display companies here is United States are familiar with some of these muti-break shells historically and may be reluctant to shoot these types of shells. I am curious how shoot site clean up is handled in Malta?

The president/owner of my local fireworks company visited a Malta plant a number of years ago. He told me that all shells manufactured there are shot there, none are sold or exported. And, no fireworks are imported. All workers at the plants volunteer their time, none are paid. I cannot recall how the cost of materials are funded. And, although you cannot purchase their shells, they will explain and show you everything about their methods of shell making, including formulas. The island is 98% Catholic (the official state religion), and fireworks are used for every religious holiday. The competition amongst the companies is fierce........a lot of pride goes into the development and construction of their shells.
