Can this device be used for your fireworks storage magazine? Will the ATF approve this battery operated wireless device inside an explosive storage magazine? The advantage is it monitors not only temperature but humidity. I explain in the video. Opinions welcome. I made a different version of my video here for ATF license holders or regular users of Consumer Fireworks that store 1.4 products. .

It will probably take years to get it approved, you know government things.

I'm surprized you're not required to wear an anti static wrist strap in a mag.

I don't see anything specifically prohibiting something like this in the regulations, although I think it comes down to how the people in the field interpret it. If it had an "intrinsically safe" rating, that would make it easier.

The only talk about lighting and metal tools used for opening or conveying material. In practice, most of us keep other things like a broom, pens, logbook, tape, etc. in the magazine and nobody says anything about that. So I thin it's a greay area.

I am not familiar with that "Intrinsically Safe" rating. I know you are from California , that sounds like a California term. LOL Kidding aside, I will have to educate myself on that term. Its new to me. Does anyone you know in the explosive business have security cameras inside of their magazines. I would imagine some have cameras watching the property around the mags but inside? I know during some of the ATF license renewals they are starting to ask survey questions about video security.

I thought the ATF didn't even allow those battery operated push button lights.. Thats what I thought I have been told but I haven't looked myself.

What is difference between explosion-proof and intrinsically safe?

Therefore, Intrinsically Safe means that an apparatus, such as a temperature transmitter is not capable of causing an explosion. Explosion Proof means that should an explosion occur, it will be contained within an enclosure.

"Intrinsically safe" is often stamped on things like walkie-talkies, where the voltages and other parameters have been reviewed by the manufacturer and determined to be not capable of causing a spark. There are also more rigorous certifications, like ATEX (used in oil/gas/construction a lot) and MSHA (underground mining). They often have additional requirements, like the unit has to be completely sealed or require a special tool in order to remove the battery.
