I personally love it. I pick up 4's off the discount rack now. They are just as good

My girlfriend has always told me that size doesn't matter, I better rethink this.....not

At the rate the market is going, the canister shells are going to be "taller" than the mortar tubes! LOL!

The size is crazy and I agree. But the rising effect in consumer fireworks is pretty cool.

60 grams equals 60 grams, burst or rising effects

I saw something about tube diameter restrictions, I started imagining 1" diameter canister shells that are a foot long. I heard a rumor about pyros who dont usually get on forums and the excess cardboard on these shells, but thats just foolishness.

For those that haven't seen Dave's video from years ago that features a 12" long 10 break shell.

LOL, I still have some of those shells. I see that video is from 2012. LOL. This is what we can all expect coming out of China. I have something coming falling into the DF1 line of 2021 product that is bigger in size in a canister. I'll explain more once it drops.

Seems to be the sensible thought, and what I've believed. But I was talking to the fireworks store guy, and he wondered out loud if it might be possible to create a less dense powder that could take advantage of the extra size of these shells, without exceeding the 60g limit. I don't know if there's any sense to that at all, but it's an interesting thought.

60 grams = 60 grams---ie: a pound of lead or a pound of feathers is still a pound. Fluffier break powder will burn much faster than coarser powder--not something that is going to help.

It would require a reformulated lift charge. For reloading ammunition there are dozens if not hundreds of different powders that have varying burn rates and energy density. If you could get the same energy impulse out of a lesser amount (particularly mass) it would be a step in the right direction. That said, it would be a significant undertaking (and expense) for a manufacturer to pursue this. For folks/hobbyists at home that have crossover interests it would seem a better chance of success.

I don't see much of a reason to take advantage of larger shells. Any shell over 4" is mainly marketing since they already have enough room for more than 60g. Most shells don't even have the max in them either. They're around 50g. If you want more in them, the can already happen for many shells on the market.

I bought a box of these Brothers 5 break shells today. I haven't measured them yet, but I have a feeling that they won't launch well in my 12" tubes, so I'm not sure what the hell to do with them.

Not wasting my time getting 1.4 shells from out of state until they announce a 12" length.

when i had fireworks last, i had 1 that was a 12 break, would that do? lol. seriously. 76 carried it for a while then removed it. can't even remember the name of it, but i do remember the last half or so of the breaks being too close to the tree tops from my vantage point (not that we were right by trees) but it made me happy we weren't. those shells weren't that great, anyway.

Look for Dave's upside down fireworks video. They just don't make them like they used to.

5657 These shells were absolutely disappointing. Low breaks and small breaks.. I think he hammered us $6 a shell.

Anyone ever try making a "shell of shells" out of consumer shells?
