Fantastic show, was it all 1.4 or a combo of !.4 and 1.3? I couldn't tell from the set up pictures but it looked like you had some 1.3 mortars .

Thanks. It was a combination. Body had 3'' and 4'' shells but was mostly consumer and AP cakes. Finale had 3'' salutes, 4'' & 5'' Nishiki strings. And an 8'' that I miss timed and got lost in the mess.

Those were 5's. Strings of 5" nishiki with red strobe center.

The tube in the distance is an 8". The 8 was from mexico and underperformed. All the shells from Mexico sold at that distributor are horrible.

It's a damn shame that Mexican shells perform as poorly as they do. I look at the opportunity that Mexican pyro plants have and see it being squandered, as I believe that they can be very competitive in manufacturing costs when compared to Asian companies, and most certainly when it come to transportation. Even if their costs of materials and labor are comparable, I believe that they will be more than offset by the savings in shipping. If anything, it would give that ruthless gangster that now runs the show something to worry about.

Without mentioning sources. Some of the major players in the industry told me to get any major fireworks or pyro related anything done in Mexico , too many bribes need paid to produce it and/or get it into United States. Years back another source told me it was either the government or the military or both control and/or distribute the fireworks chemicals in Mexico. Years back I remember hearing a 5 inch mortar salute go off in the air that was manufactured in Mexico , it was so weak I couldn't believe it. One of the distributor employees told they don't wrap them tight enough. My response was if it was made correctly it could have been wrapped in Kleenex and would still sound good. If you can't make a good 5 inch salute, come on now. The chemicals were contaminated or of poor quality. Unless I see it for myself, you are never going to see the pyro complexities the Chinese produce coming out of Mexico.

When it comes to fireworks, I've heard this analogy:

Mexico=Ford
China=Cadillac
Italy=Rolls Royce

The analogy seems to hold true in my experience. I've never seen a Mexican shell perform well. I have seen Mexican shells literally falling apart before they ever make it into the gun. At the opposite end of the spectrum are Italian shells. I was recently at a show that had salutes that I would have sworn were high quality 4" and 5" but turns out they were 2.5" and 3".
