I thought I would share this video with everyone, because I actually worked at this plant for one season. Its located in downtown Youngstown,Ohio. Right near the mahoning river. The actually name of the company is the Diamond Sparkler Co. They make excellent sparklers, as you will see in the video below. So,when you see the idiots on YT making sparkler bombs, at least you know its helping out my local economy!..lol

i worked for phantom for the last 11 years. i had a chance to swing by the factory on a trip through ohio so I decided to check it out. I was kind of surprised at how run down the place looks. i mean, I know it's only in production "full time" for a percentage of the year but that whole area just looks like a dump. as one of the flagship endeavors that bruce and alan zoldan made to get into the firework business I'm shocked they havent dumped some money into it and spruced it up even just a little bit. good to see that other people are recognizing that Phantom is the key reason there is still some manufacturing going on in the USA today. hopefully they will retain it and keep the plant going and going

I am not sure how many people know there was and still may be a tariff on imported Sparklers in United States. Starting in 2005 China was accused of dumping Sparklers into United States in an effort to destroy any remaining competition for domestically made Sparklers. In an effort to protect, the last remaining Sparkler producer in United States an importation Tariff was enacted. I wish I could site all the details of the Tariff but I believe it was specific to Sparklers that had a metal rod only. That is probably why for a while there was all those Sparklers with wooden sticks.
The last remaining Sparkler manufacturer in United States is owned by Phantom Fireworks in Ohio. Last I heard they work for a few months each year to make enough Sparklers to be distributed for that season.

You are right Dave - there is a "dumping Tariff" on metal sparklers. Alot of importers including myself will not import those as your tariff is like 90 - 95% of the import cost hence doubling the price of metal stick sparklers. But most consumers don't realize that and still want the metal stick sparkler they had when they were a kid. I even had a lady come to one of our PA stands and really complaining that "hey these wood sticks break when the grandkids flip them up in the air - there are dangerous!!!" What i told her is that the metal stick sparkler burns over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit and actually making them the unsafest firework out there - that is why i don't carry them! She huffed out vowing to never buy from us again! Oh well win some lose some... if she only really knew...

I was going through some of my favorites on my youtube channel and figured I would post this video. Once you get through the initial commercial introduction, you will see where they talk about the last remaining Sparkler company in United States. Just to refresh your memory it is owned by Phantom Fireworks aka B J Alan.
