Here in Michigan, we pay 6% Safety Tax; as well as 6% Sales Tax. That can add up even when you get BOGO free.
What percentage do you pay?

As posted in your other thread....In PA we pay 12% tax on top of the local sales tax which is typically 6%.

Indiana has 5 percent fireworks safety fee plus 7 percent sales tax. IL we tax everything to the max.

As much as I love consumer fireworks, this is one reason my purchases have been leaning more and more towards 1.3 products. Big brother is doing the smaller consumer mom & pop shops a disservice. As well as the old father, son fireworks bonding experience I shared with my father.
I don't foresee states reducing or eliminating it either. State "coffers" see the result much like they are with the spread of legalizing "maryjane".

Enough ranting, time to go to town and buy me a pack of smokes, fifth of single barrel bourbon and lottery tickets. Next week planning a trip to cannabis friendly state neighbor.

1.3 is not taxed the same as 1.4?

I can't answer for other states - but Pa that is correct. 1.3 is taxed only the 6% sales tx.
1.4 is taxed the 6% plus additional 12% fireworks tax. Now - the strange thing is - the way our law is wrttien - what is typically call "SAFE & SAFE" is ONLY taxed to basic 6% sale tax - I know - confusing!!!
