The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that it is a misrepresentation of what it is. 1" canister shells still whistle/crackle/break etc, but a bit differently than ball shells. The practice of hiding these 1" canisters in what appears to be a 1.5" ball shell is extremely common now. It is very similar to what you see with regards in the 1.75" canister market with 3.5", 4", 5" and 6" shells. Consumer fireworks manufacturers are limited as to how much composition they can put in a shell, so after a point the larger packaging's sole purpose is to influence/deceive an under-informed purchaser.

The thing that really sux is hiding a canister shell inside of the ball shell. A lot of people by ball shells because their breaks are general more symmetrical/round.
