I'm looking at the shows from the various Disney parks. They are the best I have ever seen first hand. I noticed the breaks did not have a preceeding tail. As it turns out, They shoot their shells in the air like a paint ball. In other words they dont use powder and flame for lift, but rather a pnuematic system. Is this a proprietary sytem? I have never seen a show utilize that other than Disney. I wonder what size/type of shells thay are using, and where do they get them.

They get them specially made with computer chip ignition systems in the shell. This gives perfect timing with music and means there are no low breaks. I assume it also means the shells are easy to paste just toss them on a wasp and then they're done. This would be because there is no time fuse

The Only park that i know of that uses the Microchips is Epcot during illumations which is also the only show that uses compressed air. Some of the shells in that show use blackpowder also due to they launch like 6 feet from the crowd out of morters where there is no air. The CO2 launch is only done from the pyro barge in the middle of the lagoon. Magic Kingdom uses entirely blackpowder to launch. Also Disney gets them from all over. They are the #1 Consumer of Fireworks in the United States. They have several bunkers on the property where they store the product from a bunch of different companies.

Disney has its own employees that shoot the show. They have a crew of pyrotecnicians. Alot of the disney pyro's are off duty firefighters in the area.

I have heard from a pyrofessional in the industry that shooting for disney is not what you think. "Cubical Fireworks"

I dont know specifics. He said occasionally disney has to call in outside help to do a show for example for the APA. He has worked on the property and has said "Disney is where real pyro's retire." He does not work for Disney.
