What are you paying for the good stuff?

I know this seems to be a sensitive subject,so let’s have some ground rules....please do not list the brand name or the name of product that you bought, and certainly do not give the names of the retailers that you bought it from.

Just trying to get a gauge on what percent under retail I should be paying for The heavy and loud assuming a 1k or so purchase.

To be clear...I’m only talking about product labeled as 1.4g

alot of the wholesale places have the price structures on their websites... i dont know the percentages.. but i know i see a substantial discount when i hit the target purchase amount for said discount... 1000-2000$ is usually where a first tier discount applies.. and id say in the 10-30% discount range... now a retail place wont give you the same discounts... but they also have tiered structures... most of them on the website too... i know of 3 pyrotalk advertisers websites who have their price/discount structure on the sites

I think it might be a good idea to have specialist retailers who sell only the best pyro be paying members of this forum to promote their wares and have a seperate forum for their goods. More dosh to keep this forum running. Even videos of the good makes of Pyro being sold etc.. so the public can be educated as so far as getting their monies worth, rather than charging down to the nearest supermarket and wasting their hard earned on TNT, Black Cat and other poor quality pyro?. There are loads of unregistered visitors to this site and I do think they might be looking for guidance in what to buy and also pointers in safety and how best to do things pyro related, amongst other things. It might even result in registered members of this forum being offered superior discounts. One of the perks if you like :). Works very well on another pyro forum I know of.

If you want consistent prices for fireworks products you going to need to move into 1.3 products. Your post is a little ambiguous , I'm not sure if you are talking about mislabeled products or properly labeled products? Either way because it is being sold to unlicensed people it is all Consumer Fireworks. Like any consumer product it is subject to all the market forces , convenience, location , product availability , time of year, closest competitor etc.
Years back this was an advantage of being part of a fireworks club, there was usually a few stores setting up to sell at reduced rates. But then again there were people selling overloaded products at ridiculous rates. Then after a few years they start selling at these clubs like there running a retail store and raise all the prices. Again back to market forces and greed moving in. Plus all of this is a lot of work and travel.

Thanks Dave, and yes this is pretty much exactly what I have experienced. I got “lucky” and was able to score several really good products at 40% off retail, some at 30% and so on/so forth. To your point, it is expensive, but put in perspective it will certainly add some wow factor to the show this year.

To be honest it’s really the Easter egg hunt aspect of it that makes it fun to me. I have been pretty fortunate to find two places within an hour of me with some really good stuff. The closer that we get to the holiday, I’m sure the higher the prices will get. I already have a good score and it will look awful good in conjunction with my 1.4 pro items that will ship in early June.

Jay, how far are you from Springdale, AR?

I’m about 3 hours from Springdale. I usually make a pass through Springdale every year on our way back from Joplin. We generally go on Father’s Day weekend though, and I think that’s about a week too early for Arkansas sales.
