I'm wanting to order some plugs from midwest wood specialists. I'm building some 5" and 6" racks with HDPE guns. For the fiberglass lovers I do have those also but do not have the means of making them. At what point do I need 5" or 6" thickness on plugs? Thanks

My 6" tubes have 4" thick plugs. You could go with the thicker plugs but I'm not sure it would make any difference in lifespan or function. I will say you want to use good quality deck screws to fasten the plugs in. Pre drill appropriate holes to prevent possible splitting of the plug.

Agreed with the deck screws. I was gonna do 3" on the 5 and 4 on the 6. Just curious on the thicker plugs.

Yeah, it may last longer but I've never had issues with the minimum plug thickness. They are heavy enough as it is.
