I am going to try something a little different on this thread. As many of you know that follow my videos I sometimes mix humor in with educational teaching about fireworks. I also enjoy a good laugh at some of the random fireworks accidents and candid video involving fireworks. If we do this thread correctly and can forgive people for their stupidity and just enjoy the humor in it. I think it can be a lot of fun . Perhaps I can stimulate some of the people registered that never post to participate on this one. Please feel free to find and post the best funny and sometimes stupid fireworks videos. Be selective there are many rockets in the ass videos but only pick the one you think is the best.
PLEASE POST THE VIDEO SO IT PLAYS RIGHT ON THE FORUMS. You do this by clicking the little green film strip icon, then cut and paste the link from the address bar into the new little window. Preview your post to be sure it works. If all video are on the forum then someone new can quickly scroll the thread to find what they want. As you find new videos add them to this original thread.
I will start it off.

I don't personally have a favorite nor do I look for them. The other thread was locked which I was going to say good, but now I saw this one. I can understand videos of fireworks being destructive in a controlled enviornment by specialists.....but videos like these only hurt our hobby and give the nay-sayers more ammunition for banning consumer fireworks. Just my two cents.

I did like the video about handing out m80s or firecrackers at Halloween instead of candy.....now THAT is funny.

This is not a good idea.

OK I hear your thoughts, we will see what other users opinion on this is. I went through this “Protecting the hobby” debate with a group early on. I personally feel the hobby does not need protected it actually needs promoted. There are organization like National Fireworks Association and the American Pyrotechnics Association that “Protect” the fireworks industry. I do not see my role as a protector.
I see these funny fireworks videos as humorous and short term entertainment. Of course if someone was serious hurt it would not be funny. If the consensus after a couple of weeks is to remove the link that’s what I will do.
Currently the only basic rule on pyrotalk is not to sell items on the forums unless you are an approved advertiser. The website is less than one year old so I am still experimenting. The site has already started to cover subjects that made people feel uncomfortable like flash powder, making fireworks and firecrackers. I feel I can laugh at a silly fireworks video and then get back to some serious issues with fireworks on the other post.

I dont see how posting these videos in this way will hurt the hobby, or how not posting them will help to protect it. These videos are so readily available that if anybody wanted to use them as demonstrations for banning/hurting the fireworks hobby, they can pull them from anywhere on the internet. In this forum nobody is promoting the improper use of fireworks, but instead just laughing at the stupidity of people that have no common sense or proper training with fireworks. After all, how do you think the warning "do not hold in hand" came about. Common sense for most of us, but obviously enough people did it to necessitate a warning against it. I want to see the warning "do not fire rocket from ass cheeks" on fireworks in the future, because enough stupid people did it to create the need for the warning.

I will tell you first hand how they hurt the hobby.
I live in Ma currently we have a rep that is writing a law to legalize consumer fireworks. At the first hearing the NFPA which is headquartered in Ma might I add used 2 random you tube videos to show a panell what could happen if this bill were to pass. Now had these videos not been on you tube I am sure they would have shown the one they made on there own. Therefore thats how it hurts the hobby . We are putting so much effort into getting this bill to go, that its frustrating to see stupid people because thats what it comes down to put these videos on you tube.It gives these the opposition ammo. I guess if i lived in a more pyro friendly state i would see it different....

I understand what you are saying, but the fact is that Youtube will not get rid of those videos. They will always be on the internet, and having a thread on this forum that comments on, or laughs at them, (not adding to or making our own stupid videos), will not hurt the hobby anymore than what damage has already been done elsewhere. Now if we were posting our own new stupid videos, or if sites like Youtube took those videos away, we would have a completely different situation. I honestly think that any government is not going to look at Pyrotalk and say, "we are not going to legalize consumer fireworks in our state because Pyrotalk commented on and posted this stupid video that was taken from Youtube" If any government officials for any state looks at Pyrotalk as a whole, they will see that it is dedicated to the hobby for safety and proper usage and training of fireworks.

Correct you will never stop people from posting it on you tube. My point is the people that have these mishaps could care less about what they are doing to the hobby. As far as pyrotalk.com goes we are mostly enthusiasts and whatever we post stays between all of us. Its the people that shoot each other w Roman candles and place cakes upside down and then post videos on you tube.... that chaps my ass...

I am ready to run out the door in a second but wanted to post real quick. I have an option in mind for this type of video but I am going to sleep on it over night until tomorrow. However, please I would be interested to hear everyone’s opinion on this type of video.

My opinion is if we can keep it between us on Pyrotalk by using the unlisted video option on youtube then its ok. I just dont want to promote being careless. an accident can be funny if no one is hurt.

What I find interesting is I know that voice in the beginning of the first video. Ive been researching items on a fall pricelist and came across his channel. There were alot of good videos of cakes. After seeing that I understand hes a jackass for posting it. I agree with Palermitano2 about keeping it to ourselves. Maybe on a safety forum or something similar.

My opinion is that this video's should stay.
Here you can see what's wrong and what the consequences are.
There are no real serious bodily injurys, but it could be worse.
I think that you must see the both sides of the picture, so you see how its not done.
In the other vids on this site you can see how it's properly done.

i'm all for a "dumbass" section where videos can be posted. or some sort of safety section that was mentioned previously. just the fact that it's out there in a regular forum TO ME makes it look like it's just another run of the mill topic on our parts. keep in mind that this forum is public. some random politician like Palermitano was saying in MA could just casually pop over as a guest and look at that and see everyone saying HAHAH or wow that is pretty cool....but then they will ignore the other statements regarding safety or misuse or anything beneficial to the pyro user. they will take that NEGATIVE image back with them and distort it to whomever they need to. it's been done before. it will happen again if we just lay it out there for them to take.

I think the best way to avoid that is to not post anymore about it....so enjoy this thread.

You can always "flag" the videos on youtube. Enough flags will remove the video. I know there is no possible way to flag them all, but if a video really bothers you enough, that "flag" opti0on is available.
