PA Retailers Selling Fireworks

Hello, I was wondering, there are several small retailers in my area that sell the S&S stuff around the 4th. With the new law could they sell other items which were previously illegal or would they have to act as a "temporary" location and pay for permits and such? Just curious.
I have had dreams about walking into grocery stores and there were dump table full of fireworks. Then I would wake up and be disappointed it wasn't real. :(

The "PERMITS" that I think you are referring to is actually called a "LICENSE" to sell "the good stuff" You will still see the S&S in their stands as well - just not as big of a variety. Also they are limited in the kinds of "good stuff" they are allowed to sell.
That LICENSE costs $4000 plus other costs and regulations involved as well....
BUT good news for you - you don't have to wait until late June/Ealry July to BUY the good stuff - you can right now!!!

WE from Kneppy's will also be going to Kellners at least one of the nights - not sure which night though.

The Walmarts, Sheetz, Dollar store, Kmarts, etc will still be selling the S&S stuff as they usually do. They are not allowed to sell the "good Stuff".
With that being said - you might see a TNT stand in a Walmart parking lot though....selling the "LIMITED" good stuff.

stores that carried S&S items will continue to carry those items and they still cannot sell all the fireworks that your previously needed a permit for. Temporary tents if they pay their license fee will be able to carry full line items but if they do not purchase a license they will still only be able to carry S&S items. In building Full line fireworks can only be sold in a building exclusively for fireworks. You wont be able to go into a gun shop and get roman candles. So as of now you can walk into a firework store like Kellner's and buy what ever consumer item you want now.

Will it be calculated as the total plus the 6% standard sales tax then the 12% new tax (so that the sales tax is also taxed)?
In other words, to make up an example, say an item costs retail $10.00. Will the final bill be $11.87 (10 + 6% +12%) or $11.80 (10 +18%)?

ok, i'm lost, some can someone make the formula out to show how much tax would actually be paid vs cost like (like $20 + 12% = $22.40) and add in individually all the taxes as well as the order cost to get final price, like charge by charge to see what taxes are being paid

S&S is only the 6% = just like it use to be . So if you purchase $10 plus 60 cents tx = 10.60

Now if you buy $10 of "the good stuff" ie crackers, rockets candles etc. then this is the price breakdown.
10 + 60 cents = 10.60. Now you take the 12% of the 10.60 total. Yes you got it - you are taxing the tax...So then it becomes 10.60 + 1.272 = 11.87
or you could simplify things - total of 18.72% tax when it is all said and done.

So let me ask you this.... If a customer wants to buy some S&S stuff and some "good stuff", are you allowed to ring up the orders separately to avoid taxing the tax?

Is there other taxes in the state that are structured like that? I would fight that, it is a accounting nightmare. Everyone knows they wrote this bill in a back room with no input from other sources!

That's crazy high tax. I thought MI 12% was bad. If i had to pay 18%, i think i would just give up crackle all together. :(

Kellner's has added a new volume discount structure.
$500 - 5%
$1000 - 10%
$2500 - 20%
$5000 - 25%
$10,000 - 35%
$20,000 - 40%

The discount is a cumulative process. So all purchase you make throughout the year will be working towards a discount or he next discount. This discount level will also be your starting level for next year.
