Happy New Year to all!! Hope everyone has a safe and fun evening.

I took the opportunity to introduce my daughter to the Cobra firing system. We didn't shoot much, just some leftovers from the 4th. But she enjoyed it.

Nice! About how far away were you guys from the product you filmed? And they were 500grams?

We were maybe 30-35 yards away. Yes. Four 500G cakes and the last effect was (I believe) a 13 shot fan slice.

Hey Rick its nice to see you getting your family in involved in your passion or is it turning into an obsession lol!.I tried making my wife my camera man New Years Eve...but needless to say she won't be getting nominated for a Academy Award in cinematography anytime soon. The 36M and slat worked perfect.I actually had the 36M inside my garage and ran the 100ft db 25 cable out to the slat in the backyard and fired off 10 of the Dominator Pro tubes individually in -20 degree weather.Anyone on the fence about the Cobra or any other firing system should just take the plunge!

Mad props to you bomb!! It got down to 28F here last night (wind chill) and I thought I was going to die! There's no way you'd catch me going outside in single digits to do ANYTHING! So you're a brave man for doing what you did in my book. If the wife went with you, mad props to her too! That's a keeper for sure. Very happy to hear the slats worked as advertised. Scott Smith makes some great equipment! You're also right about taking the plunge. Electronic firing is the only way to do it. It's not an inexpensive way, but it's by far the best way.

Happy New Year everyone!!! So I had a big show planned for some family and friends. However, after walking outside and getting hit in the face with -3 degree winds, my show quickly became small haha. I wired up some shells, comets, and a zipper cake for the finale. Even better, I forgot to turn on one of the receivers going to my 18 shot fan rack so only the last 2 sets of 3 shells went off. Despite all of this, was able to test my new system (worked great), had fun with my wife setting everything up, and enjoyed being with family. I believe I learned my lesson about New Years shows and not plan big shows because nobody will want to be outside if it’s super cold. Going forward, I will just do some shells like this year.

Thanks Cherrybomb1. I’ve been crazy busy writing my dissertation for school. Almost done but my hobbies have taken a back seat for the last few months. New Years allowed me to get my Pyro fix but I’m ready to start planning for the 4th lol.

Here is my New Years Eve display. I tried to make it less than 5 minutes. The temperature was close to zero. The strobes and first cake firing was from Spirit of 76 Fireworks . Without going into detail past that , the remainder of product was a generic mix. If you new into advanced pyrotechnics note the technique. Its a short, inexpensive backyard display. Remember to stabilize everything, even the strobes and fountains.
.
Cobra System, 3 modules, two on number #1 and the other on #2. Fire two of everything throughout the opener and body of show.
.
The fountains....two inch piece of quick match over the visco fuse, insert Initiator into quick match, stabilize with magic tape
.
Single candle firing half way into fountain opener, quick match over visco then insert Initiator.
.
The strobes (Spirit of 76 type).........Pull back Initiator cover and magic tape direct on top of strobe, no need to remove rice paper cover. Two green and two red. Mark either the red or green Initiator wire with tape near end with "RED" "GREEN" to help connecting wire to firing system as not to mix up the color firing.
.
First cake firing..........brass awl hole in same mortar the fuse is, insert Initiator and tape shut.
.
Canister artillery shells........brass awl a hole directly into the lift, insert Initiator.
.
Finale
Fast fuse candles using pyroboom racks to hold each candle in place. magic tape each candle visco fuse to yellow quick fuse , add 2 inch quick match to each fast fuse end and insert Initiator
.
Same fast fuse technique for the canister artillery shells in the finale. Fire the canister shells 3/4 into finale to finish with a few salutes as last shots.
.
Here is the video of the display and other video showing the fusing technique.

Hey--I remember that second video from FireArt's open shoot a couple years ago. That was a fun night! [back when they let us drive up into the field].
