Why Would Someone Do This?

I came across this video (https://youtu.be/HpzKBO8kxDQ?t=4m30s) while surfing youtube. The relavant portion of the video starts at 4:30 and lasts onlly 7-8 seconds. Besides that narrow time frame, I can't guarantee the rest of the youtube video is SFW. I've seen a couple of videos poeple holding the mortar and firing consumer shells, but this is the first time I've seen one that came this close to ending in tears and blood. The sad thing is, I think this person was sane at the time. Clearly he noticed the shell didn't shoot out the mortar like it should and barley got it out of his hands in time. If he was drunk, I doubt he would've reacted in time.
