I picked this up at a local gun show today. If someone knows the history of this black-powder and if it had any pyrotechnic association please post.

Dave--here is a reference chart of Black Powder grain sizes & references between Sporting & Blasting grades.
I don't know how long Elephant Brand was around but they used to sell the ".149 Fine Fuse Powder" in 12.5 & 25 pound plastic bags. It is what they used for the center core in Bickford style Time Fuse. I had a 25 lb. bag of it & used most of it to coat rice hulls. I might still have the empty bag around: I will look & if I find it I will post a pic. If I told you what I paid for it you will be sick!!! The tin can is a nice "collectible" but not for that price.

Thanks Joe, anyone know what a one pound can of black powder is retail? I still have access to black powder from the chemical haul a couple of years back. The only time I am using black powder is recently here with the Concussion Mortar. The little bit of research I did on this brand, it looks like it was a cheaper alternative to Goex at the time.

Al at FireArt has 1 lb cans of 2FA & 4A for $11.55 a can. I think it is GOEX brand but I am not sure. Saw it a couple times but don't remember. I'm sure he will see the thread & jump in.
I've seen BP here in gun shops for $22.00-$23.00 a can.

I paid too much for this can if I purchased just for the black powder. It probably has more of a collector appeal. I probably will just save it and add it my old pyro stuff. I think Al at Fire Art is selling some German stuff if I remember correctly. There is a guy that follows my video that sells ammo at these gun shows. I bought some German ammo from him. Excellent quality. i am going to guess their black powder will also be excellent quality.

I think Al is selling this one. But I am not sure.

My local guy sells it for $28 a pound... But I've gotten 2fa for as low as $12 where i live.. My local gun shop said they weren't allowed to sell actual bp anymore until they changed their license type... They have it in the back but can't sell it... Still waiting to hear back on it... Been a few months... So i started milling my own

Good price considering what BP costs are these days. Nice for spoolettes if you weren't milling your own.

That's why I'm happy i got a nice ball mill last Christmas... With about 50#s of assorted chems... Only made spoolettes a few times, usually use time fuse...
