Pyro Toolbox

I'm trying to consolidate all of my pyro tools and items and get them ready to take into the field for the big day. I've got boxes and bags and cans of different "stuff" and it's a real pain.

It would be nice to be able to grab one case/box/kit that holds everything I need. I was wondering what everyone else uses.

I use a marine plastic ammo can style box for fuse and ematches... And a tool bag for my cordless, hammer, small saw, screws, nails, zip ties and tape... Tried using a bigger box for an all in one but it was a pain to transport

There is one i was looking at, it's at Wally*world... It's smaller but has a few different compartments... Made by Stanley.. Rolls and has a collapsing handle.. Think it was like $40

This set is pretty nice as well. I was looking at something like this too but for my regular job.

My box is getting to packed. And seems like if i do what i want with the one box. It may get to big and bulky..like kenny said.. those rolling ones do look nice.. did anyone end up getting one??? I would also like it to be quite sturdy.. also. What tools do people have specific for the pyro tool box ?? I have dykes for fuse cutting a razor, just got a brass awl(havent used it yet). Tape, zip ties.. Any other ideas.. i have a shitload of tools. But wanted to have a specific set.. just for this box

Carry the tools you use, I always use a hammer every year as well as a cordless drill. Some bailing wire, strapping tape... Added caution tape last year to section off where people couldn't go or park their cars. Usually always have my multitool, it's a SOG power assist... And a streamlight pen light.

Ooohhh.. caution tape.. thats a good one!!! I do usually have a shitload of tools in my truck.. but this year i have to transport quite a bit of racks+ kids/luggage/wife. So i want to make sure i have everything i need and the more portable/compact the better

Sure did. I picked up this one last year https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-22-in-Pro-Gear-Cart-Black-222573/205441921 and it worked great. Very sturdy. Water tight. Holds everything I have, and it has wheels! I even used it as a seat (I'm 6'2" and 310) and it held up great. I would highly recommend it.

What are my options for safely cutting fuse. I've read that scissors are not safe. How about just pulling it across a sharp blade?

A blade would be fine as there is no friction of metal on metal as you have with scissors. I have to admit, that I have cut fuse aofter with scissors, however, I do so when it isnt connected to any fireworks. So basically, if something were to go wrong, I would only lose that piece of fuse.

Oh yeah!! That looks like a good one.. at a decent price point too.. im at home depot like 2x a week minimum.. gonna stop in that isle mext time i go.. and if you do end up with a separate small tool box too.. it can go right on top and be wheeled around with it

My understanding is the safest thing to use with cutting fuse is a pair of anvil cutters. You can use just about anything you would normally use to cut thin rope or cord, but avil cutters are the safest because of how they work. I've got a pair of Craftsman anvil cutters. They cut fuse very well.

Cheap place to look for anvil cutters, any garden department at chain stores... Look for small pruning shears... Same thing as anvil cutters except you can't replace the blade, but they're usually $5 or less. I use fingernail clippers a lot for visco,or clipping zip ties.

That looks like it works great.. im currently using a heavy duty storage box.. works fine.. but i like the portability of the ones with wheels and handles... that thing couldve stunk it up good if it was new

Rick,That will hold all the mods you have?.im going to Lynch Imports on Saturday for there open shoot and need something I can keep everything in and wheel it into my motel room.I don't like the idea of leaving thousands of dollars of cobra equipment in my truck for someone to steal!

OMG no! I've got 12 mods an audio box and the 18R2. There's no way that would all fit into that box. I just have basically everything else in there. Boxes of initiators, talons, rolls of tape, a spool of scab wire, punch, pliers, snips, caution tape, markers, etc....

There's no way in hell I'd leave any of my Cobra gear in my car in a hotel parking lot overnight! I'd drag it to the room one box at a time if necessary.

I just use those large totes with the yellow tops from Menards. I'm up to 3 of em now and running out of room! Lots of stuff...

Well there was no smell, but kind of messy. It got a good scrubbing out! This tote will hold 9 mods. Plus some other stuff. On my lunch break now at work. when I get home I will post the p/n of that tote in case any one is interested.

My buddy uses pelican cases he bought at Wal Mart. I believe each one holds 4 mods. I can try and get the details if anyone's interested.

That looks nice,like the small basket holder inside for smaller items. It has wheels as well, might look into one, I don't like to carry the larger totes of supplies.

The basket didn't come with it Kenny, thats from Husky but it only cost $3.97 the tote was $79.00...its 63 gallon with water proof seals...i like the handles on the sides, 2 people can lift from both sides to put it into my truck.The kids 5'9 145lbs and he pulled a Harry Houdini and fit inside of it!

This is my tool box im2720 storm box I can fit my cobra 72m onboard cues, 18R2 remote, 3 18s slats, and 3 db25 25ft cables works excellent

The plastic tool boxes work great, I use them daily in my construction business. The only bad side is the metal latches on them, make sure to take your time latching and unlatching them, that is the weak spot for these boxes, the latches like to break off the box.
