Got 1 3" rack made today. Took about 45mins. Will be quicker now that I have the dimensions I like. Local guy sells the mortars for $5 a piece so not terrible. I used Brad nails to tack it together then finished with deck screws. I plan to build 7 3" racks and 6 4" racks. That way I can have a case of each loaded for my show.

Second rack done. It's a little different. I got a suggestion to have the bottom rail even with the top of the mortars plugs. So I did that

Good that you are thinking ahead as far as guns to case size. Also consider chain counts.

I've seen some chains in 10s and others in 12s. I'm not sure I'm even going to use chains. I can just series a few on a couple ques and get the same effect

Makes sense .... if you have an immediate CATO (or I guess a CBTO .. Catastrophe BEFORE Take Off), bulging broken HDPE is fine, but flying splintered wood would be bad!
