Police: Troy Man Caught Making Illegal Fireworks

TROY, Ohio -- The bomb squad was called to a Troy neighborhood on Friday, where officers said a man was making his own fireworks.
According to police, a man living at a house in the 5200 block of Virginia Avenue was making and selling his own fireworks. News Center 7 was told that the chemicals that he were using were very dangerous.
Officers were originally called to the scene on a welfare check.
Scott Gates with Troy police said there was a 4-year-old child in the house, along with an elderly woman.
Police said the man will be charged with making fireworks. He could also face a child endangering charge.
The bomb squad also stopped in Fletcher at a home where someone allegedly had bought some of those illegal fireworks, police said.
