2016 Fire Art Open Shoot, October 15, 2016

[Fire Art]

Ok here is the official post...Mark your calendars and pack your pyro gear. Fire Art LLC will be having its Annual Open Shoot on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Join us and many other like-minded fireworks enthusiasts and thump junkies for a night of fireworks, food and fun.

Schedule of Events:

12 noon office will be open to place/pick up orders and mingle
5PM Liquid Fuel Mine Seminar
6PM open Shooting begins
7PM Cake Raffles
10PM Permit Ends.

Particulars:

Shells up to 8" can be shot, in the past we have done 10s but we have new magazines coming and if they arrive in time they will be too close.

No homemade items allowed. Outside product may be shot responsibly, but with all the awesome product that we carry why bother?

Everyone will be required to sign a waiver and wear the appropriate safety gear. Hey, I if we have to do it so do you.

Racks will be provided, however we need a couple 2" racks for people to use if anyone can bring.

Anyone wanting to do a mini show, please let us know ahead of time so we can prepare a shoot site and have the necessary racks there.

FOOD:

Food will be served probably around 4 or 5 and usually lasts a good while. We do our best to bring enough for everyone so please REGISTER so we can get a good idea of what we need.

CAKE RAFFLES:

We will have 200 gram and 500 gram 1.4g cake raffles. Bring or buy a cake and receive a ticket for each cake donated to the raffle. At 7, we will draw the names of the winners of each category who then receive the whole pile!

HOTELS:

Even though there is no Penn State Game going on, something else is and has used up all the double rooms in the area. We were only able to get a block of rooms at the Roadway Inn on 322. The rate is $59.99 + tax and needs to be reserved by October 1st. Tell them Fire Art Open Shoot to get the rate. Other hotels are available and we can send you a list of phone numbers, just give us a call.

Kids Activities:

We had really good weather last year and had a kid activity table going, hoping to be able to do that again.

if you go and i come with you ill have 2 - 5 shots 1.75 inch racks that you can use so 10 shots total and ill just use my 3 shot rack or you can too ( use the 3 shot ).

Check with you travel agent. Pittsburgh probably is but you will either have to rent a car from there or take a flight to a smaller local airport and still have to rent car.

as odd as it sounds google maps there is a flight option that will find the closest airport

Fly into Pittsburgh International and I will pick you up. I live south of the airport. Then we will drive up. Get a hotel near the airport , then I'll drop you at the hotel later that night. You can return trip the next day.

Just thought I'd remind everyone it will be in archery season,so watch out for those running deer.
I hit a deer last fall going to this shoot. It was only 5 minutes from Fireart! Puts a damper on your pyro budget!

just putting the word out ill be teaching a few people how to efire and im looking for someone to donate a box of ematch. they have to be at least 1 meter or longer, but no need for 5 meter. the perfect size would be 2 or 3 meter. if you want you are more that welcomed to join me and a few other people to learn something new or as a refresher type of thing. ill be at fireart about 3:30 - 4pm and ill be leaving about 7 - 7:30pm. any help i would love. thanks in advance. if you wish to help please PM me here on pyrotalk.

Interesting history of Led Zeppelin music. They have been accused of copying other people music on multiple songs they made. Taking the song for this pyro-musical as an example Whole Lotta Love 1969. Listen to this 1962/63 song called "You need Love" then listen to the Zeppelin song.

I do not believe anyone is doing a pyromusical at the open shoot. There will be a couple scripted mini shows that are sure to entertain!

Keep the RSVPs coming. Weather is looking great but bring some warm clothes for after dark and a chair to hang out by the fire.

Another GREAT open shoot at FireArt. I got to see some old friends and meet some new ones. I also got to meet some "FaceBook Friends" in real life!!!This open shoot is always a great time. Al certainly knows how to host an event. Thanks Al & Sharon for the great "room full of food" you provided!
Also, thanks to your crew for getting everyone's orders out as fast as they did.

Open Shooting---There had to be 40 people out in the field shooting stuff off at one point in time. There wasn't any more room left in the sky! HaHa.
Brian did an excellent presentation on fuel mines in the afternoon and the ones they shot later in the night looked great. I felt them all the way back at the bonfire where I was "nesting" my old bones.
For those of you that did not make it, you really need to plan on getting to the next one. You won't be sorry.

Thanks to everyone that came! Hope everyone had a great time. Weather was perfect. We had an even larger turnout than expected and the field was booming for 4 hours straight! Wish I could have gotten out of the office to see some of it. Looking forward to the next one already. Hoping some that missed it can make it out next time.

Was good to put a face to some of the handles on here and see old friends again.
