Nuclear Blast 1.5" Shells

So a buddy brought a stash over to contribute to the show. Unfortunately, the canister shells he brought are the BIG 1.5" shells. I did a test shot in my 1.75" racks, and sure enough, a low break.

Has anyone tried thickening up the shells with masking tape to make them fit tighter?

Any other tricks, or are they useless?
