Yes those are the old crackling Spit Devils. And I just found out 2 weeks ago. About my demise lol a girl called me. And I didn't plan my own death lol lmao! So I am just trying to stop another equally untrue story from starting lol all I said to Dave was please don't make a big issue over it as this girl said most people know now anyway it was a mistake. I don't know who started it But I can tell you I was the last to know lol Those old Spit Devils had white phosphorous those t sliders you step on with your feet have the same exact ingredients that's why there no longer being made!

I think White/Yellow P is worse than the arsenic compounds in the impact crackers from a toxicity standpoint. Although both will kill you. Keep those sliders out of reach of children. They are really cool but do look like they could be food with their bright glossy red and green paint.
I still have a box of the original Red Lantern Twig Bangs.
Break one of those sliders in half and hold it up to the light. There is smoke coming from it. Interesting.
Messed with red phosphorus and potassium chlorate back in the early 60's when you could still buy phosphorus. Took a formula out of an old weingart [spelling?] book. Seemed simple enough. Wet them both, mix and let dry. Put it in a bottle cap. Set it on work bench in my Dads garage to dry. Well it went off in the middle of the night, loudly. Should of known the internal stresses in drying would set it off. I already knew how sensitive it was by experimenting with small piles on garage floor touching it with a broom handle. Any prizes for being a moron. I was just so fascinated with any thing pyro. For weeks after the bottle cap went off where ever you walked in garage there was a crackling noise. After that I event I flushed both down toilet. Never touched either again. Yet another confession I dumped on Pyro Talk members.
