His act intentionally cost the lives of innocent people just out purchasing fireworks. Not to mention the repercussions it had on the consumer firework Industry.

I remember about that - very tragic indeed. That was even before we started our business - but his actions actually almost haunted me even the year we opened our store (1998) - argh - just gives me the shudders to even think about it.

the interesting fact is that the guy had a TBI aka traumatic brain injury, prior to that event.
maybe he didn't know better.

Because he was repeatedly found incompetent to stand trial, there was probably some form of mental illness involved.
