Well I'm just getting started in the pyro world and I'm going to be purchasing some mortars. I'm wondering what length do you like your 3" and 4" mortars. Thanks guys

Ok... this seems to be an odd question when you said " I'm just getting started " and followed by 3-4" guns......Do you have your 54 permit?

Correct me if I am wrong but the length should be 6 times the width of the mortar so 3 is 18 and 4 is 24 5 is 30 6 is 36.....

I still have a bunch of longer ones I bought back in the good old days when Lynch Imports had a good source for Chinese canister shells - but ours (figerglass) 3" are 18" long with a 3.5cm, plug and the 4" are 28" long with a 5cm plug.

I have my interview next week and I'm just doing research now so I'm ready in the future. I'm taking a PGI course on April 25 so I'm not just rushing into the whole 1.3g class. I just saw that most dealers sell 3" in lengths of 18" and 20" and 4" in 24" and 30". Didn't know what most people use

So an 8" gun should be about 48"?

Correct..... 4ft tall... and a 10" tube is 5ft tall..which sucks cause you have to bury the 10" in the ground...

Here(click me) (http://www.platteriverfireworks.com/shop/index.cfm) is a website where you could get the most popular mortar tube lengths.

I would say hook up with a local company first before you start shooting on your own. You can have all the classes in the world and all the licences in the world. But not having the hands on can really hurt ya. Just be safe.
