Californa FIRECRACKERS

Hello: NEED INFORMATION. I have a very good friend, who grew up in California. He was born in 1947. He is POSITIVE. The Red Devil Stands in Bellflower California sold M-80's, Cherry Bombs, TNT Bombs, until at least 1962. He remembers many details, I won't go into. Bellflower was very close to Red Devil, Freedom, Wild Cat, Fireworks headquarters. This sure goes against what I have known about California. I thought Firecrackers were out lawed about 1948 in California. Any information would be appreciated.

I used to go up to San Fransisco China town untill 1974 to buy m-80s and other fireworks. I have an older friend used to buy suit cases full of m-80s, cherry bombs and other pyro in the early 60s. Not sure if they were legal but, the cops never bothered anyone, I guess they had more important things to do back then.
