shows in a box

Ok guys. I want to get some opinions on shows in a box. I am thinking of Doin a show with a base of 2 5 minute shows in a box. Chain them together so I get a 10 minute cake. While thos are going I was thinking of consecutively shooting some 2.5 and 3 inch 1.3 cakes for the higher effect. My reasoning behind this is simply budget. I want to do a full 1.3 show with a 3k $ budget. UT I don't have that many 3 inch guns. What does everyone think? Do shows in a box suck? What are some downfalls of them? I know they are filled with tiny 1 inch tubes but that's why I want to fire large diameter cakes at the same time. Do these cakes blow apart easily? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Its not that shows in a box suck.... Its that they are very expensive. But if you dont mind putting the money out for them, go for it. Some of them can be very entertaining.

As for them blowing apart.... anything is possible. Ive had a multishot 2.5" cake blow out all of its plugs during a show. Luckily there was the only one low break a few shots in. The cake was supposed to last about 35 seconds but ended up lasting about 10 seconds due to the chain reaction of premature ignition through all the shots.

Half the cost...but not even close to the height...I have a couple shows i DO every year where we cant use cakes because they do not get the height needed

Spending more then 100.00 on a cake is simply a waste to be honest... but just my opinion and as stated above they get costly. There are alot of nice Lidu cakes in the 80-90 range that are worth the money. I'd really consider investing in 3" tubes though and going over 2" bore on a cake can be intersting because you never know if they are going to hold up. Best advice would be to build a box for them in case of a CATO

I'm way to far east to ever consider buying from Kellners... but yea the prices are higher then others out there
