Demand for firecrackers in Hawaii is high. They have some sort of permit you can purchase during this time of year to buy firecrackers.
That guy with the orange beard thinks the firecrackers are bringing him luck , but it is really that orange beard. LOL

It sounds like people are confused by how many firecracker they have when they get to the counter. The permit is for 5000 firecrackers. Ok here we go with that Tau bullshit again. The package may say 5000 but that that does not mean there are 5000 firecracker in the roll. I wish I could hear from someone in Hawaii how they actually handle sales.

Also note citizens are allowed to purchase as many of the $25.00 permits as they wish.

There now trying to ban firecrackers, they want to take everything away from us, the problem is not firecrackers or any type of consumer fireworks, its that the black market is selling 1.3 professional fireworks, to the public, I'm talking 3inch to 6inch shells! Also the prices for illegals fireworks are crazy, a box of generic artillery shells go for 100 dollar or more, and no one is stopping these fireworks from coming in cause the cops and the stevedores have a deal, people are making a lot of money. When firecrackers and novelty fireworks was legal and no limit on how much you could buy, people didn't go to the Black market, but went to the store. But now they ban novelty fireworks and the only legal thing we can buy is firecrackers with a permit. We can only pop firecrackers twice a year and only from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM!

Also as you can see from the graph you post above, no one is buying permits cause everyone is getting there stuff on the Black market now, or making home made stuff like dry ice bombs. When you take something away from someone they turn to something else, and that something else is very dangerous. Even if they ban firecrackers you think that's going to stop people from doing what they have been doing for years, they'll find a way, and the people who sell on the Black Market makes 100s of thousands of dollars, when he state could be making a lot of money on taxes and people wouldn't turn to fireworks they shouldn't be using.

I have been to Hawaii numerous times and there laws regarding consumer fireworks go by the state and county level. The state says you can only have Safe & Sane fireworks with firecrackers. As far as I know Honolulu County has a total ban on Safe & Sane but you can purchase 5,000 firecrackers with a $25 permit. There are some Honolulu councilmembers who are trying to reintroduce the legalization of Safe & Sane but only with purchasing a $25 permit like firecrackers. The main opposition comes from the Honolulu Fire Department who's leadership acts like they know what's best for the citizens of Honolulu County and support a total ban on fireworks.

I personally believe that the full line of 1.4G should be legal nationwide with certain restrictions in each state. For example Hawaii could allow cakes like Utah does that don't come down hot and create less of a risk of fires from happening but I just don't see that passing. Most of the nuisance and injuries that help started the ban came from illegal concussion bombs or homemade 1.3G salutes and sparklers not to mention the amount of black market imported fireworks that came onto the island in the past.
