The question is so simple to answer. The fireworks do look kind of real in a way, but are totally fake. The tails, colors, and breaks just gave me the clear answer. You're not always going to have a symmetrical peony. Sometimes they show the open spaces where the stars were separated by to hemispheres. Enough said.

Some of the people that design these computer simulated displays do a great job. I have the Finale Fireworks program but never use it. I keep trying to find the time and energy to experiment with it.
