Below is a copy and paste of a question I received from the internet. Does anyone know the answer?

My folks had these white pipe mortars that you would put a cap in the bottom and load a feather into the tube. You then struck the bottom of the mortar/tube on a rock and it would shoot the red feather out. My mom and dad played with them when they were 4 or 5 years old so it would have been around 1947 or so. Do you know what they are called?
