There are 210 ATF fireworks license holders in the state of Wisconsin, I am predicting you will soon be adding one more person to that list. I believe the field office for ATF Industry Operations is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That field division is made up of four states. North Dakota , South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Depending if you live close to St Paul or Milwaukee will determine which office pays you a visit. Once they receive your paperwork they can just show up at our door, my experience is they usually call, they usually call if the distance is far from the office, like one inspector told me they do not like to drive a long distance and find you are not home.

Dave, just want to say thanks for putting this video together. The video made the forms easy to understand. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about it! Thanks for the # of ATF holders in the state I was trying to find it on this forum. I didn't think it was going to be that high, impressive. I will definitely keep u posted when it all happens.

That im not sure of, but to be safe I would wait till the day of the birthday. It already takes while to process.

You wouldnt want to have to do reapply all over again.... just in case.

I just sent in my type 54 application. ATF ruling 2011-3 allows for use of a job box for a type IV magazine.

I purchased one from Lowes and will use it in lieu of a contingency plan. That way I can go home and go to bed instead of driving a long round trip to drop off any unused fireworks! Easy and relatively cheap, $289.00. I will keep the group posted after the interview and inspection.

That's 50 pounds of comp, which is generally considered 100 pounds of shells. I really hope I don't finish a show with 100 pounds of unspent shells! 50 pounds is the max allowed for a Type IV magazine and I'm just trying to get the type 54 with the least hassle and least expense. Anyhow I'm just wanting to add some 1.3 product to primarily 1.4 shows. By having an affordable magazine I don't need a contingency arrangement. And if I do use the magazine for pre-show storage, 100 pounds of 3 and 4 inch shells will surely spiff up a 1.4 show! Plus you can have more than one Type IV magazine so I can add more later if I wish. All in all it seems like a good plan for a hobbyist start.

NEVER finish with any shells left..thats my rule of thumb.. I have a 1000lb mag which funny thing really only thing kept in it is quickmatch and ematch..LOL... Only time really anything in it is when I start buying things during demo's when % off is offered or I know there is something I want

Yes, I don't really expect to be taking any product home. If it CAN be fired it WILL be fired! One question I have is if you have a defective shell or device that can not be fired, can you destroy it by submerging it in a container of water for a certain time? NFPA 1123, 4.2.3.3 states that such product must either be returned to the supplier or disposed of per the suppliers instructions. Has anyone had to dispose of product per the suppliers instructions and if so, what were those instructions?

Per one of the display companies I work with..... We box up, seal and replacard our truck for any items that did not fire and they are returned to the plant.

We have a whole mag dedicated to unshootable shells, half blown cakes and such. They are then inspected to figure out the cause of the problem and that info is relayed to the manufacturer.

I just finished installing my job box, Type IV magazine. It is 48 inch model from Lowe's. I installed it in my storage barn and bolted to the concrete floor. I drilled holes in the bottom of the job box and then drilled corresponding holes in the concrete for the concrete anchors. The padlocks have to meet very specific requirements. The shackles must be at least 3/8 inches in diameter and the cylinder must have at least five pins. Shackles also must be case hardened or boron alloy. There are a tremendous number of locks out there that do not meet the specification. For simplicity you would also like both locks to be keyed alike. By getting the locks from this source that are keyed alike you avoid the expense and hassle of having to get a locksmith rekey them. According to ATF ruling 2011–3 this should meet their specifications. When I get it inspected by the ATF officer I will let the group know.

Ok I spoke with my inspector yesterday, he's ready for the interview. Their moving faster than I thought! So I have my interview scheduled in 2 weeks, can't get off of work. So far so good seems like a swell guy on the phone.

That is exactly the one. What has to be done to it to pass? Per ATF 2011-3, nothing. It must be secured with approved locks, that meet very specific requirements.

It would probably still cost less anyway to use the old fashioned wood lining way then to "rhino line" it.

1 Gallon of any good "rhino liner" cost anywhere from $75 to $150.

I just finished up with my interview! Everything went smooth as expected, it took about an hour. He said he doesn't see any reason why I wouldn't get my 54! I'll update when I get the envelope. One thing that we talked about that I found interesting, in regards to having some kind of storage for your duds or misfires. He said if your shell is in the mortar, it is in use and not being stored along with a half spent cake, since it was fired it is still considered in use.

Where I live, probably. I'm not sure anywhere else? How does this work in Pa

I think in NH the permit is 50.00 from what one of my friends in the NHPA told me. The NHPA is holding a two day shoot up in Warren, NH on 6/6 and 6/7. It's at the Hildreth Dam and a perfect location for what we do..... shooting up to 12". Friday there will be a shell building class for 3" shells and open shooting. Saturday is open shooting ending with a 1.3 show. If you love fireworks this is will be a fun event to join in on

In Texas you need a local permit and $500,000.00 in insurance to put up one 1.3G shell in your backyard.
