I was looking at pictures of these Bird Banger Ropes and found them interesting. I see these for sale around the world but not in United States. Anyone know anything about them? The animal and bird control category of pyrotechnics always produces some cool items.

Surprisingly enough I do know a bit about banger ropes. The large rope fuse is lit; and at certain timed intervals (maybe once every hour) it reaches the fuse of a banger making a loud report. I think they are legal in the US but I have no idea where they would be sold. The bangers are usually about as powerful as an m-80, maybe 2 to 5g of what I think is a potassium nitrate based flash. I read the msds on a banger rope and it mentioned in the hazardous chemicals, potassium nitrate.

They should make them so that the firecrackers look like bird feed. Then the bird would try to snatch it away and the firecracker blows up on itself!

I don't know much about them or their uses but a few weeks ago a friend and I made one out of triangle crackers (professional polumnas). We made them using rope "fuse". It was pretty neat to make noise at timed intervals.

Sweet, now I can swing it around like a lasso over my head while they go off!!

Better get practice because it looks like it says day ropes burn for 6 hours and night ropes burn for 12 hours with 30 minutes between each bang.

I made a similar one for the 4th last year. We have a picnic during the day before my show and I hung up a 4ft rope fuse stuffed with a variety of different crackers. It was funny catching people unawares as the random bangs went off.

As far as I can tell no one in United States is selling the Bird Scare rope, it appears to be unique to the United Kingdom. if someone know of it for sale in United States please send me the link via private message.
They are so cool. I want it, I want it. !!!

Haha awesome!
Did recently notice bird bangers can be bought without ATF approval. The company that made them now complies with ATF rules that govern them. But reading the customer reviews it seems them are pretty lame. In comparision to the old ones.

I noticed the change. The ATF is citing 11 criminal events in 2009 using these devices.
The industry has adjusted making two forms of these cartridges. One is exempt and the other requires an ATF permit and proper storage. Below are links to the Material Data Safety Sheets.
The exempt one list Potassium Nitrate as one of the ingredients. I always thought this should not be mixed with aluminum. I did not see aluminum listed on the ATF regulated one. Please note the price is the same. LOL
