So after checking out saves videos at the end of 2010 I finally quit milling over the type54 process and sent everything in on march 21....just checked the bank statements and my 100 dollar check came out from the ATF on march 30th....definitely excited for that phone call!

Indianahx and I sent our applications in on the exact same day, March 21st. My check got cashed on the 29th! So now were both eagerly waiting our phone calls. Hoping the ATF isn't very busy and can get to us quickly!

dlux 1st you should get an email from the agent who will be interviewing you along with some files attached regarding a brief summary of federal laws and regulations regarding explosives to look over and the agent's # to set up the meeting. I mean that's what happened for me but maybe it just varies on who you get either way you're almost there.

I just got a call from the ATF this morning to schedule an interview!!

My thoughts exactly. Overall, I think the interview went well. It took about 1 and a half hours and we went through a checklist he had. He said it should come in the mail in about 3 weeks.

Thats awesome...its great when you get it. I got mine awhile back. Of course the only thing i did so far was buy a Firing system and crapload of racks for shells, you go in debt so fast!!!!

i guess its what you want to buy, but i bought enough mortars for a case each of 2.24, 3, 4, 5 inch shells.

WOW...thats alot of mortars. I just bought 20 - 2.5" and 20 3" for now. Plan is to for this yr use the 1.75" salutes and buy some more mortars for next yr

I wish i was at kellners to see the 1 3/4 salutes, cause i have 120 shot for that size, but are they loud enough? I will have to try some out soon and do a pre shoot.

i think so. If ya have 100 going off pretty much in 25 seconds... It will be loud..... atleast that is the plan...lol

Had my interview today. Pretty nice lady, probably a little younger than me.....no complaints! Appt was for 2:30 and when 2:40 rolled around I was becoming skeptical that in my excitement I came home early the wrong day.....still I waited. Doorbell rang at 2:45.....she had gotten turned around in my neighborhood. Immediately sat down together and she asked me right away "so I'm curious what are you looking to do with this?" So I flat out told her. Overall she was great to talk to and very knowledgeable. I think it helped me out a lot to have some knowledge as to what the Hell was going on in the process. I could definitely tell it made her job (and maybe more so made her day!) a lot easier to know that I had my head on my shoulders about it. We basically shot the shit back and forth going down the checklist and it literally only took 1hr from doorbell to exit. Overall I really don't think I could have been more confident had I not gotten such great info and suggestions from everyone here and theU. 3 weeks???? Hope so....on to the shooting!!!!

Too bad you missed Kellner's Universal! the 366 salutes was AWESOME!!! Looked like AAA [Anti Aircraft Artillery] fire in Viet Nam!!! You will like the 1.75" salutes--but---if you can put a half dozen 3" salutes in the air at once you will rock the ground more intensely than the smaller salutes. BTW--how loud is loud?? As long as you don't break windows a half mile away you should be good!

It finally came!! My Type 54 License came in the mail today!! Here is the timeline:

3/21 - Mailed application
3/27 - Check was cashed
4/27 - ATF agent called
4/28 - Had interview
5/18 - Received license in mail

It took 58 days from the time I sent in the application to the time I received the license in the mail.
