I just received a PassFire update in my email. Here it is
.
Project Update #20: Passfire Returns from the PGI!
Dear Passfire Supporters,
It's hard to believe that it's already been five months since our Kickstarter campaign ended and YOU helped make Passfire a reality. In that time we have filmed some amazing locations including India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Canada (Montreal) and we have just now returned from the PGI meet in Butler County, PA where we had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of you in person.
What's the PGI? For those who don't already know, its the Pyrotechnics Guild International convention, where for one week, fireworks enthusiasts from around the country and the world gather to exchange information, take seminars, make fireworks, compete and watch some of the most amazing shows in the country. If you like fireworks the PGI is the most fun you can have in a week! If you aren’t already a member you should definitely consider joining.
We met so many great people, got so much awesome footage, and saw so many fireworks that our heads are still spinning.
We gave two seminars on Passfire where we showed a 22-minute sneak-peek of the film and the response was overwhelmingly positive. We also showed the sneak-peek at the PGI awards luncheon last Saturday. We were thrilled to see so much support from the PGI community and are confident that Passfire will be the definitive documentary on fireworks!
As we explained at the PGI we are happy to report that the production for Passfire is now 50% complete. To date we have filmed in Canada, China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines, USA and Vietnam. While this is an impressive list, good things take time, and we still have Australia, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Spain, South Africa and the UK ahead of us. We plan to complete production by the end of next summer, with a revised release date for the film in 2015. When this film is finished there will be nothing else like it!
The great news is that with your help, and the help of sponsors like The American Pyrotechnics Association, Black Cat, Cobra Firing Systems, FireOne, The Fireworks Foundation, MLE Pyrotechnics, The National Fireworks Association, Geelong Fireworks, Hollywood Pyrotechnics, Skylighter.com, Global 2000, Martinez Specialties, Proximity Pyrotechnics, Py In The Sky, PYROBOOM, and www.FireworkCrazy.com, we have raised almost 40% of the film’s $250,000 budget.
Woah! $250,000 dollars? Why does it take that much? Because Passfire will be the definitive film on fireworks. With fireworks from all around the world, beautiful cinematography, a rockin’ sound track and attention to truth and detail that can’t be found in reality TV programs (you know the one) we are building this film to last! And YOU are a part of it.
However, in order to continue this monumental production, we need to raise an additional $30,000 this year.
Kickstarter may be over, but the opportunity to continue to help Passfire is not. If you have been thinking about becoming an Associate Producer or Sponsor of the film this is an excellent opportunity to upgrade your pledge level. Or if you like what you have been seeing and want to help a little more this is also your chance; every bit helps!
Yes, we are still accepting donations to the film. Contribution can be made via paypal (info@veverkabros.com) by clicking the donate button here: http://www.veverkabros.com/Passfire.html or by checks made out to Veverka Bros. Productions LLC, 2 White Church Rd, Brooktondale, NY 14817.
Also, for those of you wondering about Kickstarter rewards, we will be sending out t-shirts soon - we apologize for the delay, but have been having a lot of trouble with our supplier. Japanese ball shell piggy banks will also be shipping soon!
So what's next?
In September we will be attending the National Fireworks Association Expo in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the American Pyrotechnics Association convention in Scottsdale, Arizona and will be showing the sneak-peek at both. Assuming we can meet our new fundraising goal we will also be traveling to the UK for Guy Fawkes Day and Australia for New Year’s Eve.
We look forward to bringing you future updates and in the meantime, please enjoy these pictures from the PGI!
Thank you,
Jesse and Jeremy Veverka
