Here's another color system that I like much better than Veline. It was designed only in the past year or two by a fellow pyro out of Germany I believe:

Very true, it also adds up to 105 parts. You may want to recheck your source CP.

Try zinc granite stars. Easy to make and light. No special primes needed! KNO3 22%, zinc dust 62%, AF Charcoal 11%, sulfur 4%, dextrin 2% G.Weingart. The %'s adds up to 101 due to number rounding, original was in (parts). It works just fine!

californiapyro what kind of prime did you use on the ammonium perchlorate stars? Most require a very hot prime.

This is a person that is requesting simple star compositions, and you suggest a comp containing chlorate? That is either a severe lapse in judgment or an intentional motive to cause harm.
If someone is still enough of a beginner to need advice about basic compositions they are certainly not experienced enough to safely use chlorate. Even with a high level of experience, most never risk using chlorate comps outside of exhibition shells because for only a small drop in color purity the measure of safety added through using perchlorate is increased several times over.

Hey Titanium are you a beginner? My friends and I have been using chlorate stars for 20 years without any incidents, They are simple formulas and don't require any prime. If you want real easy stars stick with bubble bee or flying fish fuse cut into inch lengths, that is what I would recommend for begginers.

oh im sorry that was a typo, the red gum is supposed to be copper (II) oxide. and yeah its 105, it doesnt really matter what it adds up to. i use veline superprime, works every time ;)
