I came across this story and had to read through it twice to make sure I wasn't half asleep. I am curious about the firework mentioned and whether it was in fact illegal or not.

two things that I cannot imagine:
1) Those were Pepsi bottles laying around on the ground
2) That anything less than a salute or some tube filled with flash powder, like an M-80 would blow a leg clean off. Maybe a premium canister shell if he closed his leg around it.

Our laws here in Michigan finally allow us to shoot 1.4 legally and people like this are going to ruin it for others!! People need to make smart and safe decisions when using fireworks!!

I believe that most firework accidents start out when I was drunk.... This is our first year of legal consumer fireworks in Michigan and the idiots are ruining it for everyone. Several cities or townships are banning them because of non stop around the clock use of fireworks, but because of the new state law there are certain holidays that allow them to be used. State law allows the day before, the day of and the day after a Federal Holiday.

i totally agree!!!!! thats why they are illegal in the first place! it sucks
